Veronika Otcuoglu is a visual artist based in Montreal. In her practice, she focuses on using cultural elements from her hometown, Türkiye, as well as symbolic elements inspired by her origins—the art, history, mythological motifs, and political issues of this countryHer art style is mainly realistic, but she enjoys blending different styles and techniques, combining surreal figures, objects, and ideas with realistic ones. She is currently exploring themes of nostalgia, culture, landscapes, portraits, and abstract compositions related to Türkiye. 

Biography:

Veronika Otcuoglu was born in Istanbul, Turkey in 2001 and has Armenian-Greek origins. She grew up in a family of artists and musicians, in an environment that deeply inspired her creative sensibility. From an early age, she studied piano and later expanded her artistic vision by learning the violin.

Her academic journey began at the Lycée Français Pierre Loti d'Istanbul. After moving to Montreal, Canada, at a young age, she earned a French Baccalaureate from Collège International Marie de France. She then completed an apprenticeship at the Visual Arts Centre of Westmount in Montreal before beginning her undergraduate studies. Veronika has recently graduated from the extended program of the Painting and Drawing Department at Concordia University’s Faculty of Fine Arts.
